American professional sports leagues are not immune to the coronavirus outbreak and the NHL has just recorded its first confirmed case in the Ottawa Senators. On Tuesday, the Canadian hockey team confirmed, without revealing the identity of the player involved, that one of its players tested positive for Covid-19.
The player in question is now isolated with “moderate symptoms”. The rest of the team is also in isolation and the health of the players is being closely monitored. Teams that have most recently played the Senators will be notified promptly by the League to also monitor the health of players who have been in contact with Ottawa. San Jose, Anaheim and the Los Angeles Kings have played them over the past two weeks.
